The man who on Wednesday snatched the mace of the Senate while plenary was on has fled the National Assembly in a black Jeep.
No attempt was made to stop the Jeep as the occupants fled with the mace.
As earlier reported by The Eagle Online, trouble started when protesters stormed the National Assembly in the early hours of Wednesday demanding for the sack of the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and his Deputy, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu, among others.
The protesters, under the aegis of Angry Nigerians, stormed the Red Chamber as Ekweremadu president, snatching the mace.
Saraki is away in the United States of America attending the World Bank/IMF Spring meetings in Washington DC.
After the mace was taken away, the Senate went into an Executive Session.
It was still ongoing as at press time.
