The police on Friday arraigned a 40-year -old man, Olayinka Adebowale, for allegedly collecting N60,000 under false pretences from one Olatunji Adedoyin.
Adebowale, who lives at No. 28, Oretunde St., Ijoko in Ota, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining money under false pretences at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec.23, 2017 at Adesola Plaza Gasoline, Ijoko, Ota.
He said that the defendant collected N60, 000 from the complainant on the pretext to assist him obtain a room.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Senior Magistrate S. O. Banwo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N60,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Banwo said that the sureties must be residing within the court’s jurisdiction and swear to an affidavit of means.
He also ordered that the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government and submit four recent passport photographs to the court.
The case was adjourned until March 5, for hearing.
