Johnson, who was arraigned on two counts of stealing and inability to fulfil a promise, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Kayode Adeoye, told the court that the accused committed the offences in the Ile Idanade Housing Estate area of Osogbo on December 23, 2018.

According to him, the offences contravene sections 419 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

Counsel for the accused, Okobe Najite, moved an oral application for his bail and assured the court that Johnson would present reliable sureties.

The prosecutor did not oppose the bail application.

However, Magistrate Modupe Awodele did not grant the bail application.

She remanded the accused in prison and adjourned the matter till September 24 for ruling on the bail application. [PUNCH]
