The police prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, explained that the accused also impregnated the victim.

The charges read in part, “That you, Tunde Oyedokun, sometime in April 2019, at No. 5 Balogun Street, Omigade area, Osogbo, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did unlawfully have carnal knowledge of one 13-year-old girl, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun State, 2003.”

Oyedokun pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The counsel, who represented the accused, Mr Seun Ogundari, urged the court to commit him to bail and gave an assurance that he was ready to stand trial.

Magistrate Modupe Awodele told the counsel to file a formal bail application on behalf of his client.

She ordered that the accused be remanded in the Ilesa Prison till July 30, 2019, when the matter would come up for ruling on the bail application. [PUNCH]
