A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to succumb to the antics of those he called the cabal by tinkering with the amended Electoral Act.

Moghalu gave the warning while addressing supporters, reporters and chieftains of African Democratic Congress (ADC) during his official declaration to contest the 2023 presidential election.

The presidential hopeful, who hailed the President for assenting to the amended Electoral Act, urged him to ignore the advice of those who want him to amend the Act, after he had signed it into law.

Also, Moghalu has said the challenges facing the nation are not insurmountable.
The former CBN deputy governor spoke yesterday in Abuja.
He said: “With inflation at above 15 per cent, most Nigerians see continuing decline in their standard of living.

“Even those more fortunate have been jolted back to reality with the acute increases in the prices of diesel, now selling above N700 per litre.”
Moghalu recalled that this happened at a time electricity supply in the country had nosedived with long queues returning to petrol stations and university students back at home because of the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.

He regretted that as the 2023 general election draws closer, traditional politicians have focused on politicking with less consideration for promoting national cohesion and progress.

“However, I am convinced that we can overcome these challenges as a country and as a people. This is the reason I have offered myself for consideration to Nigerians as President.

“I did this in 2019; I have again offered myself for the office of President in 2023,” he said.
