The paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and the Coalition of Ogun West Youths Association have appealed to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to reverse the past administration’s decision and establish the proposed Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology in Yewaland.

The monarch, who spoke when the government’s review committee visited his palace in Ilaro, maintained that “Yewaland is marginalised in politics, particularly in the area of education and this is the appropriate time to reverse the injustice.”

The Coalition of Ogun West Youths Association also threatened to call a world summit to review its membership as indigenes of Ogun State over the planned location of MAUSTECH in Abeokuta and its failure to get a ministerial slot.

The spokesperson for COYA, Wale Olanrewaju, said in Abeokuta that if MAUSTECH was located in Abeokuta, the coalition would engineer the call for a world summit for all indigenes of Yewa/Awori to review their indigeneship of the state.

He said, “The youth of Ogun West will call a world summit of our people where we are going to call for a review of our existence, our importance and our significance in Ogun and probably establish an accord with Ogun State to see to how we are going to be accommodated as truly and full members and indigenes of Ogun State.”

In similar reaction, the Coalition Interest of Ogun West also insisted that the relocation of the polytechnic to their area was unfair to the Yewa.

The Chairman of Education Committee of Yewaland Development Council, Prof. Rahmon Bello, who spoke on behalf of the group, said, “We have two public universities in Ogun East, one in Ogun Central but none in Ogun West. [PUNCH]
