Mourinho’s first game in charge of Tottenham saw an end to the club’s winless run away from home as they beat West Ham United 3-2 thanks to goals from Son, Lucas and Kane.
Tottenham had the ball in the back of the net as early as the third minute but it was ruled out as Kane strayed offside from a Dele Alli’s pass.
Spurs would finally take the lead in the 36th minute through Son who lashed home a powerful left-footed strike after receiving a pass from Dele Alli.
Son created the second goal after a fine footwork on the left touchline by Alli, crossing for Lucas who did well to get in front of Aaron Cresswell to nudge home from close range.

In the second half, Lucas inexplicably missed from close range but that was soon forgotten as a Serge Aurier’s cross found Harry Kane who met the cross with a downward header to make it 3-0. That goal moves him up to third on the list of Spurs’ all-time leading goalscorers’ list.
Antonio who came on as a substitute for the Hammers, gave the home fans something to cheer about as he pulled one back in the 73rd minute.
The Hammers would go on to score one more, thanks to Ogbonna who beat Gazzaniga with a low shot from a corner deep in stoppage time. A come back was not possible as the game’s curtains closed.
With this win, calm has returned to the Spurs camp for now following a run of poor performances which led to the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.
Next up for Mourinho and his men is a Champions League game where the welcome Olympiacos on Tuesday before hosting Bournemouth four days later. West Ham travel to face Chelsea in another London derby next Saturday.
