My Victory, Protest Against Impunity In Imo – Governor-elect

Imo State governor-elect, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, has described his victory at the polls as a protest against impunity, due process and rule of law by the electorate, saying that he would run an open, transparent and all-inclusive government to move the state forward.

Hon Ihedioha in a maiden press briefing at his private residence in Owerri, lamented that nepotism, favouritism and exclusive style of governance by the out-going APC administration in the state not only impeded the pace of growth and transformation of the state,  but also exposed it as keepers of the past, devoid of Western civilization and modernity.

“The mandate given to me by the good people of the state is sacred and I will do my best to uphold  and to respect  it as  a governor because it is a protest against impunity,” he said.

He further noted that qualitative education, effective and result oriented health care delivery services and food security would enjoy a pride of place in his government.

Hon Ihedioha while lamenting the rising tide of youth unemployment, assured that a training program would be put in place shortly after his inauguration to engage the youths in meaningful ventures  while technical colleges would be revived.

He also promised to enthrone a symbolic working relationship with the legislative and the judicial arm of the government to give democratic governance a face  lift in the state.

“I will vigorously pursue rural industrialisation as part of efforts to create jobs for youths and tackle youth restiveness”.

“The prospects of our youths is dear to me and  they will become role models as soon as I am inaugurated,” he explained.

Hon Ihedioha who extended his hand of fellowship to all who contested the governorship election with him, added that his government would be responsive and receptive to the yearnings and aspirations of the man in the street just as he pleaded with the media to  assist him to move the state forward.
