Death is one topic many fear to talk about. Many fail to see that dying at times is the only way to live a better life and death is a transition from one realm to another. With the way many live their lives today, there is a need to die to some thing in order for them to become what God has ordained them to be. No one is a failure, and truly your life is not determined by the environment you grew up in.
I have observed and see that there are four things people need to die to, if they need to achieve greatness in their life. These four things determine your journey in life. You will notice that I did not say destination, real success is not a destination but rather a journey. For every level of success you attain in life, there is always a need to move on to the next level of achievement. People won’t recognize you for long for your past successes but you become the talk of the town when you are consistent in reaching a goal. Dying to these four areas of your life gives the strength to reach out to life as a whole.
Die to the urge to spend:
The first thing a man or woman who wants to reach a greater height of achievement must die to is the urge to spend money on things that are not necessary, though they are in vogue. Buying things in vogue only makes one relevant to certain set of influential circle, and only last as long as the item is in vogue. This means you are only relevant as long as that thing is in vogue, and if you want to stay relevant, you must have money to buy things in vogue. This is bondage. Your life is not defined by things in vogue, but by values you add.
We must cultivate the habit to invest, and not save alone. Now saving is good, but if your money is just lying down in a bank account, what good is it? There was a story in the bible about a king who gave three kinds of people certain amount of money. Now he did not tell them what to do with the money, but their result would determine what reward each would receive. Now, if you remember that he did not get angry because the last guy that was given one talent did not spend his money, but rather that he kept it and made no profit with it. Now what does that tell us, saving is good as long as it yields interest but investing is far better because it eventually yields interest.

Don’t be deceived by the celebrity musician who sings “I spend my money anyhow I want”, I can tell you some percentage of them do have investments. Don’t be misguided by their way of lives, many have been so deceived that they don’t have regards for money. Let me burst your bubble here, money has wings, it only respect those who respect it, and stay in the house of those who put it to good use. You may wonder why you are always broke, because you have little or no regards for money. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying you should worship money, but money respects those who put it to good use, as the saying goes: “Money invests well brings more money”. Many youths out there spend money as often as it comes. This would kill your financial destiny… I am sure.
Die to a wrong relationship:
The second thing you need to die to is a wrong relationship. A wrong relationship can wreck a glorious destiny. Relationships are ladder to better life. If you want to become relevant in life, the kind of people you keep around yourself would determine if you would. Some people are so entrench in a toxic relationship, and its really affecting their well being, hence hindering their progress in life. Relationship is a factor that can affect our lives, it could affect our mind-set, reduce our productivity, affects the way we relate with others, even affects our values.
If you do your research, you will note that no one gets there alone, no one is an island. In fact, most of the divinities we worship are not working alone; they have divine beings with them. Hence, you cannot be alone, even God said “it is not good for a man to be alone, he needs a help meet”. Relationship is a means to achieve and become a force in life. You see, a man alone cannot leave a legacy, but a man with the right set of people can live on even after his demise.
The relationship you keep influence so many things in your life. It influences your decisions, your way of life, your thought life and even your manner of life. There is this popular adage “show me your friend, and I will tell you if you will be successful”. There is nothing that is as true as that. Being in a relationship for the sake of having friends around is so overrated; life is short, hence people engage themselves with people who have the same orientation in life. The sooner you make this your focus, the better it is.
