New Oyo police commissioner assumes office, pledges adequate security

The new Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Shina Olukolu, has assumed office following the deployment of his predecessor, Abiodun Odude.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Adekunle Ajisebutu.

Ajisebutu said the new commissioner assured the people of the state of adequate security before, during and after the general elections and solicited the support of all residents to enable him succeed in his new assignment.

He said Olukolu, an indigene of Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, was born on Oct. 11, 1960 and attended University of Lagos where he bagged BSc and MSc degrees in Political Science.

“The new CP was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Course) on March 15, 1988 and was trained at the Police Academy Annex, Kaduna.

“Since enlisted, Olukolu has served in various capacities and as well attended various on-the-job-courses and was until his redeployment to Oyo State, the CP Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos,” Ajisebutu said.

Ajisebutu said the commissioner had carved a niche for himself as a thorough-bred professional who distinguished himself in all the places he had served.

He further said that Olukolu, a successful crime fighter, would be bringing his wealth of experience to bear on the policing of Oyo State.
