NiDCOM Receives 13 More Nigerians Rescued From Trafficking In Ghana

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has commended the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner in Ghana, Amb Adeoye ,for facilitating the safe return of 13 Nigerians rescued from a trafficking network in the country.

‎According to a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa appreciated the kind gesture of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for consistently providing transportation and other forms of support during rescue operations.

‎It also stated that the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) conducted profiling as part of the standard reintegration process, while the Commission provided logistical assistance to ensure their safe return to their respective states.

The returnees were received on behalf of the NIDCOM Chairman by Head of Operations in Lagos, Mr Dele Ogunkanbi.

She reiterated concerns over the growing risks associated with irregular migration, warning young Nigerians against unverified job offers and travel arrangements abroad.

‎The rescued group includes 11 adults and two babies aged four weeks and 16 months, respectively.

‎Also, an initial report indicated that some of the rescued women and their children are receiving medical care and mental health support, having been diagnosed with serious health conditions.
