Nigeria’s representatives in the ongoing 2018 SATUC five-a-side football World Cup, John Utaka Foundation fought hard yesterday to beat hard fighting hosts, Bulgaria, 1-0 to qualify for the final of the competition.

The tournament’s highest goal scorer, Arafat Hussain scored Nigeria’s winning goal to increase his goals tally to seven in the competition.

Nigeria will now meet Liberia, who walloped Morocco 5-1 in the other semifinal, in the final of the competition.

Elated by the team’s achievements, Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung sent a letter to the side commending them for making Nigeria proud.

In the letter, Dalung said, “We are in deed proud of the contingent and Nigerians will support the team with their prayers to come back home with the trophy.”

The minister also said he would receive the team in Abuja on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Foundation owner, John Utaka has directed team coordinator, Usman Chata to collect the bank account numbers of the players’ parents for onward distribution on N2 million to them, while Super Eagles star based in Turkey, Aminu Umar has also promised the team N1.8 million if they win the competition.
