Nigeria’s 10-Man delegation departs for African Floorball Tourney

Nigeria’s 10-man contingent to the maiden African Floorball Cup, which will hold today and tomorrow at the Le Palais design Sports de Treichville Centre, Abidjan, Cote D’ Ivoire, departed the country yesterday sure of success at the continental championship.

The team comprises seven players and three officials, including Hello Muiz, Hello Musa, Ogunruku Sunday and Sikiru Salawu, Offa Condition, Asuma Samson and Sulaiman Games.

The three officials are the president of the Nigeria Floorball Association, Miss Maduka Edith Chinenye, Mr. Agbai Akanu James and coach of the team, Mr. Freeman Ekundayo.

Other countries participating in the two-day competition, which is debuting in Africa, are Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo and host nation, Cote d’Ivoire. 
Speaking before their departure on yesterday, Miss Maduka Edith Chinenye, who is also the leader of delegation, said she is excited that at last, Nigeria’s Green-White-Green flag is among those being hoisted at the First African Floorball Nations Cup in Cote d’Ivoire despite some financial challenges.

She said the federation found it difficult to raise money for the trip, adding, “Our participation was a miracle.

I have to run from pillar to post begging for money to ensure that the name Nigeria was captured in the tournament and thank God it happened.”
