“I do understand that: Nigeria is overdue for a new Hero- a nationally acclaimed one, a bridge-builder. One that legends- fantabulous, incredible ones shall be woven around to allow him stand on a pedestal of mythical-proportion. A man-made god; fallible and infallible, sensitive and emotionally strong just about the same time. A lovable rogue, a Teflon-don and blindingly awe-inspiring. I begrudge none for getting good “fixes” or frequently getting high on hero-worship. My only prerogative is to vicariously bask in the euphoria of a political junkie! I am least bothered about his enthusiasm, as I am amused by his addiction all the same. But just like the “Pol-junk”, I prefer a political rogue to a religious fanatic. Though both live off the same air “Muguns” collectively breathe; and both are continually sustained by the raw emotions emanating from Neophytes and the most gullible. We must be logical to at least, appraise one over the other. Where one is gifted with moral responsibility; the other ought to be morally and spiritually responsible than the other- and to all known constituencies! Where one is answerable to the electorate, the other answers to the Most High. And where people tend to be forgiving, the Almighty keeps a perfect record. In Nigeria, there’s an abundance of Heroes, Superheroes, Heels and Superheels. We mint them weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly all year-round. Suffice to say Nigeria has found herself a new hero. It’s been a while since the last one. And that’s the same one presently in Tanzania on official hero-duty. Rotimi Amaechi is the freshly minted Hero of the week!
Goodluck to the new Hero!
Goodluck to those worshipping the new Hero!
And to the rest of us, secondarily getting our fix on the daily “worship”, Goodluck to us too!”
