The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has unveiled a comprehensive health insurance package for over 7,000 service attendants working at its retail fuel stations across the country, in a major step toward enhancing workers’ welfare and improving customer service delivery.
The new initiative, known as the Attendants’ Health Insurance Scheme, was launched by NNPC Retail Limited in partnership with NNPC HMO at the NNPC Mega Station in Abuja. The scheme aims to provide attendants with access to quality healthcare services through an extensive network of hospitals nationwide.
Speaking during the launch, the Executive Director, Retail Operations and Mobility, Baba-Shettima Kukawa—who represented the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Limited—described the scheme as a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to promoting employee welfare and service excellence.
According to him, NNPC Retail recognises that service attendants are the company’s frontline representatives and that their well-being has a direct impact on customer satisfaction.

“We have developed a comprehensive package known as the Attendant Framework, which focuses on enhancing their overall welfare. As part of this initiative, we are pleased to announce the rollout of HMO coverage effective this month,” Kukawa said.
“Our goal is to elevate service delivery, ensuring that every customer interaction reflects care, professionalism, and excellence, ultimately driving customer loyalty and sustained patronage.”
He explained that the health insurance package goes beyond welfare support, as it is designed to strengthen operational efficiency, boost productivity, and promote sustainable business growth across NNPC Retail operations.
In his remarks, the Deputy Director, Information Technology at NNPC HMO, Ademola Adebusuyi—who represented the Managing Director of NNPC HMO—said the company had partnered with trusted healthcare providers nationwide to ensure attendants have access to quality medical services whenever needed.
“Good health is the foundation of productivity, and we encourage you to fully utilise this opportunity. Through this scheme, we want every attendant to feel supported, knowing that when illness strikes, they are not alone as the full weight of the organisation stands with them,” Adebusuyi stated.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of her colleagues, a Customer Service Attendant at the NNPC Retail Mega Station, Abuja, Dorcas Luke Onyeche, thanked NNPC Retail management for prioritising their welfare. She said the initiative would motivate attendants to serve customers better and contribute more meaningfully to the company’s growth.
The health insurance scheme marks another bold step by NNPC Ltd in strengthening employee welfare and service delivery, in line with its transformation agenda to provide world-class energy solutions with a human touch.
