Egwu told journalists yesterday in Minna that there is no voting extension in any part of the 25 local government areas of the state , thus the elections went on smoothly at the election day.
According to Prof Egwu, “ at the moment results are still being collated at zonal collation centres across the twenty five local
government areas”.
He stated that the results have arrived the various local government collation centres , adding that the delay in collation was due to the fact that voting started late in some areas.

Prof Egwu explained further that the delay in voting was chiefly caused by the malfunctioning card readers that needed to be attended to in some instances.
The REC also attributed the delay to the large land mass of the state that made journey from the state capital Minna to some local government areas a long distance coupled with the bad state of the roads.
Meanwhile elections result obtained from some polling units in Niger State indicated that All Progressive Congress (APC) is in clear lead in the state.
President Muhammed Buhari won at the hill top polling station of former military president, Ibrahim Babngida and former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar with 490 votes as against PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar’s 183 votes.
While General Abubakar and his family members were among the voters on Saturday, General Babangida was said to be out of the country for medical vacation.
