NOA Begins Voter Education

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said that it has commenced voter education programme to reduce the number of voided votes in the forthcoming general elections in the country.

Speaking during a stakeholders sensitization programme on the 2019 general elections, in Abuja yesterday, the director of FCT-NOA, Mr. David Manya Dogo, explained that the sensitization programme became necessary to ensure that voters understand how to vote.

Dogo added that the sensitization programme was also meant to ensure that voters do not waste all their time, standing and queuing under the sun, in an effort to cast their votes, only to end up with voided votes.

He called on residents to maintain peace before, during and after the general elections and to avoid vote buying and vote selling during the elections, adding that vote buying is not in the interest of the nation.

“We need peace during the forthcoming general elections. Peace is very essential for survival. We are therefore calling on Nigerians to ensure that this election is peaceful and to accept the outcome of the results, and if there is any reason to challenge the results, seek the appropriate channels.”
