An indigenous company, Northwest Petroleum and Gas has commissioned a 20 nozzle capacity ultra-mega station in the Ajah area of Lagos.
The new facility which has 14 of its 20 nozzles dedicated to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) seeks to increase capacity in the downstream sector through retailing at regulated prices.
According to the managing director, of the company, Winfred Akpani, the zeal to venture into retailing was due to the outrageous prices of petroleum product, hence the vision to expand its retail capacities.

She disclosed that three of such stations are under construction in various strategic and high impact locations in major cities across the federation, and so “consequently, we have advanced from being bulk importers of petroleum products into the Country, to being ‘mega retailers. Such an expansion plan would not be complete without another Mega Filling Station in Lagos State,” she added.
Akpani who reiterated the need to deregulate the sector for real investment flow, also appealed to the government on equalization on the part of local operators, because it would increase the local ability in the downstream sector.
In his remark, Director, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Ladan Modakai harped on the need to make safety a priority since the downstream operates more around non technical people of the industry.
