For majority of Iceland supporters, Friday’s second group D match with the Super Eagles is the end of the road for Nigeria in this year’s World Cup.While the Iceland’s Our Boys were able to pick a point in their first game against Argentina on Saturday, the Eagles went down 0-2 to Croatia, thereby putting many football-loving Nigerians into permutation mood.

Now, Iceland fans say it is the end of the road for coach Gernot Rohr-led boys on Friday in St. Petersburg. Some of the fans, who spoke with The Guardian yesterday in Moscow on their way to the match venue, boasted that their team would do everything to stop Nigeria.“We believe so much in our team and they were able to prove it in their first game against Argentina,” one of the fans, who gave his name as Charles said.

“The calculation now is that we will beat Nigeria as well as Croatia and top the group. And if that happens on Friday, it means that Nigeria is out.“I spoke with some of our players after the match and they say Nigeria don’t have what it takes to stop them on Friday. They watched your (Nigeria) game against Croatia and saw so many loopholes in the Super Eagles team. We are winning 2-0,” Charles concluded.

Another fan, Sulka said: “If the Eagles come up with that same approach against Croatia on Saturday, they will go down 0-3. That is my prediction.Meanwhile, more Nigerians have arrived Moscow and are finding their way to St Petersburg, venue of the match on Friday. Some of them who could not get flight direct from Dubai to St. Petersburg had to face the long journey by using train, which will take them about two days according to a station official here.
