Notore Chemical Industries Plc. has explained that it decided to invest in Georgia Oboh’s career because it believes that is the only way to encourage the youths of the country to work hard and make good use of their talents. Notore recently announced that it would begin to sponsor Oboh’s career as she enters a new phase in her game.

The company’s Head, Corporate Communications, Ngozi Mba told The Guardian at the weekend that the sponsorship is in line with Notore’s focus on enhancing the quality of Nigerians’ life, which “goes beyond just the everyday activity.”She added: “We do things that inspire people and encourage them to do more and we are very interested in the development of the youths in sports. We see sports as a way of encouraging them to focus and improve their skills.”

Mba said Georgia Oboh’s story encapsulates what Notore is trying to do for the country’s youths, adding, “when we heard about Georgia, we were excited that a young Nigerian has shown such resilience, focus and tenacity and is doing well enough to be actually encouraged to go towards the professional route. “She started as a youth golfer to amateur golfer and now is about to turn to pro… we are very excited to see a child starting from a very young age and doing well in golf. Notore will support her over the course of her career.”

Aside the company’s alliance with Georgia Oboh, Mba revealed that Notore is also supporting the Nigeria Cup, the signature competition of Ikoyi Club, which will tee off next week. She added that apart from financial support, Notore would help to publicise the Nigeria Cup.“We debuted in the competition last year and it was very exciting. Now, we want to go a step further and make it a good experience for everybody involved in it.”
