NRFF opens Rugby house

As part of efforts to create more awareness in the game of rugby, the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), has opened a new rugby house at Surulere, Lagos.

According to the federation, the house equipped with modern states-of-the-act equipment, would enable the board keep adequate records of all rugby players in the country.

He added that this will also assist the board keep close tab with activities of the domestic clubs, rugby leagues across the country and national teams preparations for international assignment.

Speaking with The Guardian at the weekend, its president, Kelechukwu Mbagwu, said the launching of the rugby house was part of his manifesto when he assumed office last year.

He explained that the house would stand as a place to give rugby a different look in Nigeria and would be used to keep all necessary documents of the board activities and the exhibit of the legendary history of past and current rugby players.

Mbagwu also added that the board is currently putting modalities in place to rejoin rugby Africa, saying that the federation would not relent to see the sport gain a new ground at both national team and club level.

He urge more youths to start playing rugby, this according to him, would help make the game more popular in the country.

“The rugby house is for administrative functions of the board. From now the game of rugby in Nigeria would not be a one man business. Every stakeholder in the game would have the advantage of being part of the day to day running of the sport. All documentations of players’ transfers, coaches’ records and activities of Nigeria players within and outside the country would be computerised in the house.

“Every rugby player now have a place to express their grievances and also have the chance to see the past icons of the game, who will be in the archives. Rugby players across the country will also have a place to meet and discuss on Rugby. “
