Taiwo said the arrests and seizures were made between October and December 2021.

He explained that the suspected vandals were arrested in a joint operation with the Department of State Services, Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He added that the operation led to the indictment of four petrol stations, seizure of one cabstar loaded with 186 25-litre kegs, one bus, nine 25-litre jerrycans filled with petrol and 18 empty kegs.

Taiwo said the suspected cultists were arrested by the command’s counter-terrorism unit in the Sagamu area of the state in a one-week operation.

The commandant noted that the mines and steel department of the command also arrested 27 illegal miners in the state.
He said, “We have arrested five suspected vandals both as a command and in collaborative effort with Operation Whyte from the national headquarters, comprising personnel of the NSCDC, ICPC, EFCC, DSS, among others.
The operation led to the seizure of one cabstar loaded with empty kegs, 4,622 litres of PMS, a ford bus (dark green colour), a long hose, nine 25-litre jerrycans filled with petrol and 18 empty kegs.

“The counter-terrorism unit of the command arrested 29 suspected cultists in Sagamu involved in a cult clash.

“The mines and steel department made a total of 27 arrests with the following exhibits recovered: 15 shovels, 12 cutlasses, 15 diggers and 17 heavy-duty batteries.”
