The Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE), Abeokuta Branch, Ogun State has honoured the state’s newly appointed Head of Service (HoS), Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu, who is the first engineer to hold the office in the state.

During a reception held in his honour at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, the NSE National President, Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu described Bisiriyu as an astute member of the profession, whose achievement has positioned engineering beyond just a profession, as a seasoned administrator per excellence.

He stated that Bisiriyu’s appointment, which is the zenith of the service career, was a great source of inspiration to members of the engineering society working in the public service, saying it was a landmark achievement, worthy of emulation by other states of the federation.

In his welcome address, the branch chairman, Engr. Dr. O.A. Apampa, enjoined all members to key-in into the emerging trends in the NSE, championed by Mr. President “if you are not at the table, you may end up as the menu.

Engineers should be more visible in the affairs of the country by showcasing themselves and celebrating their achievements, so that they can protect their territory and expand its frontiers by pushing back encroachers from other professions, as well as expatriates of doubtful expertise.”

He also admonished all senior members to be conscious of their duty, particularly to younger members by ensuring their personal and professional welfare through facilitating their self-development.

The peak of the reception was the presentation of a commemorative plaque to Bisiriyu by the society.

In his response, Bisiriyu appreciated the honour accorded him, calling on all to join hands in moving the state forward. He also reaffirmed his commitment to uplifting the profession.
