Profit-taking leading to price losses outweighed gains from transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), which continued on a downward note yesterday, causing the All-share index to depreciate marginally by 0.07 per cent.

Specifically, at the close of trading yesterday, market capitalisation shed weight by N9billion from N12.021trillion recorded on Monday to N12.012trillion, while the All-share index slid by 26.25 points or 0.07 per cent from 34,873.07 to 34,846.82.

Investors exchanged 174 million shares worth N2.8billion in 3,783 deals, higher than 162.737 million units valued at N1.537billion that changed hands in 3225 deal on Monday.

On the price movement chart, 24 stocks depreciated in price, as Seplat topped the day’s losers’ chart with 6.76 kobo to close at N450.00 per share, while Seven-Up followed with 4.48 kobo to close at N85.82 per share.

Nigerian Breweries lost 2.01 kobo to close at N167.99 per share. Total depreciated by 1.9 kobo to close at N223.1 per share. PZ Cussons lost 1.00 kobo to close at N24.00 per share.

WAPCO lost 0.46 kobo to close at N48.54 per share. UACN shed 0.45 kobo to close at N15.00 per share. Flour Mills dropped 0.40 kobo to close at N27.00 per share.

FBN Holdings depreciated by 0.27 kobo to close at N5.14 per share. Dangote Flour Mills also lost 0.15 kobo to close at N6.20 per share.

On the other hand, Nestle led 13 others on the gainers’ chart with 23.90 kobo to close at N1228.9 per share. Guaranty Trust Bank followed with 0.54 kobo to close at N38.54 per share. Stanbic IBTC added 0.50 kobo to close at N40.00 per share.

Unilever appreciated 0.20 kobo to close at N42.00 per share. Guinness also garnered 0.15 kobo to close at N96.8 kobo per share. Mansard appreciated by 0.09 kobo to close at N1.99 per share.

Vitafoam gained 0.05 kobo to close at N2.70 per share. Jaiz Bank and Linkage Assurance garnered 0.03 kobo each to close at N0.70 and N0.63 per share respectively. C&I Leasing gained 0.02 kobo to close at N1.26 per share.

On the activity chart, Guaranty Trust Bank dominated in volume terms with 33 million shares worth N1.2billion while First City Monument Bank followed with 12 million units worthN12.8million.

FBN Holdings exchanged 12.5 million units valued at N65.2million. Mansard traded 11 million units worth N23million. Zenith Bank also exchanged 10 million shares valued at N232million.
