Former Nigerian junior international, Tajudeen Disu, has disclosed that the Nigeria Soccer Federation-United States of America (NSF-USA) has raised $1,320, as part of their contribution to the medical expenses of the ailing Coach Kelechi Emeteole.

Emeteole reportedly requires $11,000 to get treatment for a diagnosed throat cancer in India. The former Green Eagles player is currently on his sick bed breathing with the help of a pipe.

In a chat with The Guardian, Disu, who is the director of National Association of Nigerian Footballers (NANF) and Chairman of Lagos Players Union, said the money would be deposited into Emeteole’s UBA bank account latest on Monday.

“The executive council of NSF-USA has raised a total sum of $1,320. Our president, Richard Opanuga, will be sending the money to Kelechi Emeteole’s account on Monday, March 20, 2016, on behalf of NSF-USA. We are happy for reaching our goal of a minimum of $1,000.

“Initially, it looked like an impossible task, but with every members’ support and determination, we did not only meet our goal, but exceeded it by $320. I want to thank and appreciate all our members for donating towards Coach Kelechi Emetole’s fund raising and standing up to a call to save a life. I pray that the God Almighty will replenish your pockets,” he said.

Disu, who is the international coordinator of NSF-USA, thanked Opanuga for the role he played in the success of fundraising.

Meanwhile, several Nigerians and corporate bodies have made financial contributions to the recovery of the former Rangers of Enugu and Heartland FC coach. Prominent among donors was the Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, who gave N2 million for his treatment.
