49 Obtain First Class At Taraba State University

No fewer than 47 students have bagged First Class degrees at the Taraba State University, Jalingo.

They are among 8525 students that graduated, during the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th combined convocation ceremony Saturday.

In his address, the vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Vincent Tenebe, said the institution had witnessed a rapid academic and infrastructural transformation.

He noted that due to financial support from Taraba State Government, the university had been ranked as one of the best 20 universities in the country from the past when it was ranked 170.

He also revealed that the number of professors had increased from two in 2017 to 79.

He said the university which had 1221 staff in 2017 now boasts 2241.

At the ceremony, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed; the Chairman Board of North East Development Commission, Major General Paul Tarfa, and vice Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Alhaji Usman Najeem, were conferred with honorary doctorate degrees in recognition of their contribution to nation building.
