A group of Ogun State indigenes living abroad, under the aegis of The Ogun State Diasporans, has endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued on July 17, 2026, in Vienna, Austria, and signed by the group’s coordinator, Engr. Oluyemi Ogundele.
According to the communiqué, the group reached its decision after what it described as a thorough assessment of aspirants being touted for the governorship seat, concluding that Adeola possesses the leadership qualities required to advance Ogun State’s development.
The group described the senator as “a man of vision, compassion and unwavering commitment to the people,” adding that his record in public service and legislative accomplishments distinguish him among prospective contenders.
It maintained that Adeola’s emergence as governor would ensure continuity of the developmental strides recorded under the current administration in the state.

His political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the incumbent administration have done commendable work in the state, and continuity remains the key to sustaining the progress,” Ogundele said.
The group highlighted what it described as Adeola’s contributions to infrastructure development, education, youth empowerment, rural development, and legislative advocacy through bills and interventions in the Senate.
It also commended the senator’s leadership style, describing him as a bridge-builder whose achievements have earned him widespread support across the state.
Ogundele pledged the support of members of the diaspora group for Adeola’s governorship ambition and urged Ogun residents to rally behind his 2027 bid.
He further disclosed that members of the group would seek to formally present their endorsement to the senator during the 2026 Diaspora Day celebration scheduled to hold later this month in Nigeria.
The coordinator also reiterated his commitment to encouraging Ogun indigenes in the diaspora to return home to invest and contribute to the state’s socio-economic development in support of the government’s transformation agenda.
