Ogun Governor-Elect, Abiodun Dedicate Victory To Ogun Electorates

Ogun state governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun has ascribed his electoral victory during the March 9 guber election in the state as the victory for the people of the state.

Abiodun said this while speaking with journalists yesterday during the official presentation of Certificate of Return to the governor-elect and members of the State House of Assembly at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abeokuta, the state capital.

A highly elated Abiodun declared that without the greater number of Ogun electorates who, defied all odds and came out in their large numbers and laid the foundation for this ceremony he wouldn’t have being the personality being celebrated across the state presently.

Speaking at the event, the Ogun governor-elect emphasised that his victory at the poll was neither his, nor that of his political party: the All Progressives Congress (APC), but that of the people of Ogun.

“You are the real heroes and heroines of this success and democracy . You are the ultimate winners”!

The Ogun governor-elect however, declared that it behoves on him and other elected officers to respect the will of the people, put electioneering and bickering behind and rally round to address the challenges confronting the state and the people, if indeed the motivation is to serve.

“It is gratifying to note that, almost all my major co-contestants have demonstrated spirit of sportsmanship, congratulated us and even responded to our hands of fellowship. I salute your character which confirms that your motivation is beyond aspiration for office or personal interests. Our hands of fellowship remain wide open to all”, said Abiodun.

Abiodun pledged to the enthronement of a fair, just, equitable and inclusive, a government that truly earns and deserves confidence and trust of the citizenry through transparent and accountable leadership, focused and qualitative governance that creates the enabling environment for an enduring economic development and individual prosperity of the people of Ogun State.

“Good governance is not just a legitimate expectation of our people which we are committed to, it is also our little way of showing gratitude to God Almighty for His benevolence that made our success at the poll and today’s event a reality.

“Many of you are fully aware of my odyssey to warrant any recap here, suffice to say that left to man, I would not be standing here today.

“God manifested His awesomeness and clearly communicated: “man is man, God is God.

“God has been faithful to me in this journey and I am obliged remain faithful to Him by keeping faith with campaign promises I made to the people and make their welfare priority at all times”.

In his own welcome address, the Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof Abdulganiyu Raji, admonished the Governor-elect, to resist temptation to run politics of hatred, but rather, a government for all and sundry.

He further appealed to Abiodun to foster peace and reconciliation in his government.
“Where there are issues l want you to put them behind you”, said Raji.

Notable chieftains in attendance, include  Senators Gbenga Kaka, Akin Odunsi, Dipo Odujinrin, Ogun West Senator-elect, Chief Tolu Odebiyi, Dr Femi Majekodunmi, among others.
