He also called on the International community to accept the verdict from the election as the will of the people, stressing that the “election was free and fair”.

“Ndigbo are deeply happy that Mr President secured more votes in Igbo land than he got in 2015,” he said.

Okwukwu apologized on behalf of Ndigbo to president Buhari for what he described as “hurried and wrong decision to adopt Atiku Abubakar as midwifed by Nnia Nwodo.”

“Nwodo has misled Ndigbo. It is expected that before he takes a decision of that magnitude over Atiku,” Okwukwu said.

“He should have gotten his facts right. The overwhelming votes President Buhari got indicated that he simply hurried over the endorsement for his selfish interest,” he said.

Okwukwu insisted that since the nation was confronted with two Hausa-Fulanis in an election of that magnitude, the proper thing would be to consider the candidate that already was in power since he would be serving out his tenure.

Okwukwu said that Igbo leaders would next week visit to congratulate the president and present to him Igbo charter of demand.
