Convinced that his regime has provided measurable infrastructure in the 27 councils of the state, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has urged indigenes, who came home for the yuletide, to assess his administration through projects executed in less than eight years.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, at the weekend, the governor said that verifying his over 1,000 projects would justify the utilisation of resources given to him.

“The governor, Rochas Okorocha, has appealed to indigenes of the state and even visitors who are in the state at the moment for the Christmas to make out time to verify his repeated claim that his achievements as governor in less than eight years superseded the achievements of all his predecessors put together, and see whether the claim is a lie or a statement of fact.

“The governor asked that they should look at Owerri, the state capital, and see whether there have been tremendous changes in infrastructure, and remarked that they should not forget that the same Owerri that is now expanding very fast had, before 2011, stopped at where Concord Hotel is located,” the statement read in part.

It also explained how the free education policy initiated by the governor has fared. “The free education programme of the administration has equally worked well, with the school enrolment in the state now at more than one million against 280,000 in 2011, while the state has led in JAMB applications from 2012 to 2018.”
