Okota marathon champion to win N100, 000

Organisers of the second Okota HIIT Run, which holds today, have revealed that the winner of the race will get N100, 000 as prize money, while the second and third placed finishers will get N50, 000 and N25, 000 respectively.

The race organisers, Wordbase Assembly, also disclosed that there are various consolation prizes for other categories of finishers.

Commenting on the race, the General Overseer of Wordbase Assembly, Bishop Humphrey Erumaka said the church initiated the marathon as part of its corporate social responsibility and to sensitize residents of Okota on the benefits of healthy living through exercise. According to Erumaka, “Social responsibility is not out of the church’s purview and Wordbase Assembly has been involved in social responsibility for many years. The Okota HIIT Run is one of the ways that we hope to sensitize people on the need to live healthy.”

Also speaking on the race, Chairman of the organizing committee, Chuma Okafor said it will commence by 6.00 a.m. and end by 9.00 a.m.

Okafor said the race would start from Ago Palace Way round about and end at the Ago Bridge, adding that “anybody living in Okota is free to register and participate. You may be a student, entrepreneur, professional, male or female, the race is for you. Registration is absolutely free and registration is via the website: www.worbase.com.ng”.
