Olu of Itori, Oba AbdulFatai Akorede Akamo, has charged officers and men of the Ogun State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to be more proactive in complementing efforts of other law enforcement agencies to ensure security and public safety.

He gave the charge when he played host to the leadership of the state command, led by the Commandant, Mr Kolawole Taiwo, in continuation of its familiarisation tour of some select towns and communities in the state.

The Olu of Itori, welcoming the commandant and his team, praised the NSCDC for its seriousness to security issues, especially in the grass root, where he said criminals are more rooted.

The traditional ruler assured the state command of the NSCDC of his support and tasked it to be more proactive in its duty to complement efforts of other law enforcement agencies so as to ensure that the people can sleep with their two eyes closed.

“We have observed what you do and realised that you are equally important like other security agencies you met on ground. I can only encourage you to always work in collaboration to achieve one goal of protecting us.

“I have listened to the request of the commandant. And since this month of Ramadan is when prayers are answered most, I want to say that God shall answer our prayers,” he said.

Earlier in his speech, the state commandant, Mr Kolawole Taiwo, itemised the activities of his command as regards prevention of crimes and law enforcement.

He said he had heard much about the philanthropic gesture of Oba Akamo, and therefore made a formal request for an operational vehicle to aid the command in discharging its duty.

He said the geographical location of Ogun State, which shares boundary with Lagos and Oyo states and Benin Republic, makes it a crime-prone zone which needs to be securely closely.

“We have been doing our best to ensure public live in a secured environment. And that is why we are seeking the support of important personalities like you to be able to perform better.

“We are counting on your support as a respected royal father with history of assisting those who come to you,” the NSCDC state commandant said.
