A governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State Dr. Wole Oluyede, has congratulated former Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on his 52nd birthday.

Oluyede in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday described Dr Fayemi, who is currently Minister of Mines and Steel Development, as a leading light of APC in Ekiti State.

He said Dr Fayemi performed creditably during his tenure by executing landmark projects and policies to the benefit of the people of the state and the posterity.

Dr Oluyede said the former governor was passionate about the development of the state and worked hard to place it on the world map of development and good governance.

He said the policies executed by Dr Fayemi in the areas of education, agriculture, human and capital development, tourism and infrastructural development raised the bar of governance in the state, the South-West and Nigeria generally. Oluyede particularly praised Fayemi for his visionary and innovative policy of taking care of the old in state which still resonates in public discussions in Ekiti today.

Dr. Oluyede said: “I want to wish my brother, Dr. Fayemi a happy birthday, long life, sound health and more years of service to Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria in general.

“His life has been a service to God and humanity as a pro-democracy activist, human rights campaigner, academic, scholar, politician and statesman. We shall continue to celebrate him and the ideals he stands for,” he remarked.
