Omagbemi hits Benin to cheer Falconets against South Africa

United States-based Coach Florence Omagbemi arrived Benin City, Edo State capital yesterday ahead of today’s France 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier between the Falconets of Nigeria and Basetsana of South Africa.

The South Africans arrived Benin City on Thursday evening boasting to over turn the 0-2 deficits against Nigeria this afternoon at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. The Basetsana crashed 0-2 to Falconets, who are two time World Cup silver medallists in the first leg in Polokwane penultimate weekend, and know they have a mountain to climb today.

U.S.-based coach Omagbemi, who led the Super Falcons to win the last edition of the CAF Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroun in 2016, is in Nigeria on vacation. She told The Guardian yesterday that she would be at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium to cheer the Falconets to victory. “I am in Nigeria at the moment, and will be at the match to cheer the girls to victory.”

At the first leg in Polokwane, South Africa, dependable finisher Rasheedat Ajibade set Nigeria on their to France on the half –hour mark and Anam Imo increased the tally six minutes later, giving Nigeria a massive advantage going into today’s final round, final leg encounter. The Falconets have made the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium a slaughter group, beating Tanzania 3-0 before they hammered Morocco 5-1 in earlier rounds.
