Orientation agency seeks peace ahead of polls

National Orientation Agency (NOA) has embarked on peaceful elections sensitization programme at the Lagos Mainland Local Government, urging the people to maintain peace during the polls.    

Stakeholders present at the programme include amongst others, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organizations, market women and men, artisans, political parties etc.

The director NOA, Lagos State, Mr. Waheed Ishola in his keynote address implored participants at the gathering to eschew all forms of violence prior, during and after the elections. He stressed that peaceful elections are the duty of everyone.

The Head of Administration of the Council, Mr. Segun Ajagunna, who stood in for the Chairman of the Council, Mrs Omolola Rashidat Essien gave the welcome address and also sued for peace during and after the elections.

Other participants who spoke at the gathering were Moses Mosang who represented the DPO Iponri Police Station, Commander of NSCDC Mainland Local Govt, Mrs Opara, Asst Electoral Officer, MLG.

The Baale of Ago Egba/Ebute Metta, Chief A. Sanyaolu gave a goodwill message and appealed to all to play by the rules and keep the peace.

The Coordinator of the Agency’s activities in the Council, Mr. Abayomi Alakija, in the closing remarks, enjoined participants to spread the gospel of violence free 2019 elections.
