Osinbajo Hails Ilorin Emir For Non-partisanship

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday praised the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for maintaining a balance among the political gladiators in the state.

Osinbajo said that the monarch had shown leadership and remain neutral despite the fact that some of his subjects were contesting for various elective positions in the 2019 general elections.

The vice president, who spoke when he paid homage to the emir in his palace in Ilorin, described the monarch as a respected judge during his active days on the Bench.

Osinbajo said that he was in Ilorin to consult and interface with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of  Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

He said: “It is our desire that President Muhammadu Buhari be voted for a second term and our governorship candidate, Alhaji AbdulRahaman Abdulrasaq and all our candidates for the House of Representatives and Senate,” he said.

He said that the federal government will always “be grateful” to the emir for his “ fairness and for maintaining a balance amongst his sons who were in the race for various elective offices.”

Responding, Sulu-Gambari, who expressed delight on the visit, prayed for continued peace and development in the state and the country as a whole.

Osinbajo was accompanied on the visit by the minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Abdulrasaq, former chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Professor Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem, chairman of Sobi FM Radio and a former governorship aspirant, Ahaji Lukman Mustapha among others.
