Oyo, Osun customs generates N16b revenue in 2017

The Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun area, Elisha Chikan, on Tuesday disclosed that his command generated over N16.18 billion between January and November 2017.

Chikan also told journalists, at a press conference in Ibadan, Oyo State that officers under his Command made an impressive haul of 111 seizures with Duty Value Payable (DPV) of N210 million.

According to him, 12 vehicles conveying various banned items with a value in excess of N64, 28 billion were also intercepted between November and December.

He commended operatives under his Command for performing creditably well during the period.

His words: “the relentless efforts and formidable intelligence gathering as well as collaboration with other units, such as the Headquarters Compliance Team, Federal Operations Units and the Custom Intelligence Unit we were able to make these arrests.”

He however warned residents of the states against illegal importation of rice and used vehicles through the nation’s land borders.

‘For the avoidance of doubt, the ban on the importation of rice and used cars (Tokunbo) through the nation’s land borders are still in force,” he warned.
