The exam commenced on Monday, July 5, 2021 and ended on Monday, August 16, 2021.

Some parents, who spoke to The PUNCH on the development, said their children and wards required the results to sit Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and process admission into tertiary institutions.

A parent, Mr Emeka Anozie, told our correspondent that his two children, who sat the NECO SSCE, needed the results because the schools of choice would not accept awaiting result.

“Most parents on my social media platform feel that NECO results are being delayed unlike before. Our children need the results to process admission; as you know, most schools are already selling Ppost UTME forms; we hope they release the results soon,” he said.

The Chairman, Topdeal College & 3G Educational Services, Ikorodu, Lagos, Mr Oladeji Akinola, explained that some schools would not accept awaiting results, adding that it was important that NECO results were released early so that the candidates would not miss admissions having passed the UTME.

“Institutions like the Tai Solarin University of Education; Macpherson University; Osun State University; Federal University, Oye Ekiti, and some others do not accept awaiting result; if the candidates don’t upload their O’level result on the JAMB portal, they will not be able process admission,” he stated.

However, the spokesman for NECO, Azeez Sani, said the council had finished marking the 2021 SSCE and the results would be out soon.

Sani told The PUNCH in an interview that the council was presently collating the results.

He stated, “We have finished marking, but it involves some processes; very soon, results will be released. I can’t say how soon; we are conscious of the fact that the students need the results for post UTME and admission processing; it might not extend till next month.

“I can’t be specific; it is not within my power to be. After marking and collation of results, we are rounding up; we are still within the timeframe; it depends on circumstances; there are challenges you may encounter in one year, which are different from another.”
