The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has frowned at the declaration as inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), of elections in seven states where the party is clear lead.

The major opposition party in the country also,  described the development “as subterfuge through which the All Progressives Congress(APC) government want to rig the election and subvert the will of the people.”

In a press statement signed by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, South-West, Mr, Ayo Fadaka,  the party said, “We are now at its second stage of implementation, as INEC now assumes unfettered power to adjure on elections and declare them inconclusive as it pleases.”

According to Fadaka , the evil trend began to thrive since the Governorship election in Osun State last year that was declared inconclusive because the PDP won.

Fadaka said, “sadly our democracy is being asphyxiated and the nation too is silently hemorrhaging through the dishonest actions of the APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari whose administration has completely denigrated and desecrated institutions with existential realities to sustain our nation and guarantee its peace and development.”

“it is absolutely disappointing that an administration headed by an elder statesman, President Buhari will clearly set out to undermine the peace of the nation through the pursuance goals set to repudiate and abuse the electoral desires of the people. This is not expected from a man who won an election and was not denied his mandate.

“The 2019 elections supervised by the Buhari administration remains the very worst in the annals of our history, the quest to subdue and disrespect our franchise was clandestinely planned by elements in the Presidency and its implementation began with the unconstitutional suspension of the Chief Justice of the Federation.

“We all recollect that that in the runoff, the Security Agencies did not distinguish themselves as expected and the APC was handed a contrived victory which our corruption fighting President described as a “remote controlled” victory for his Party.

“It is common knowledge that in seven States across the nation, gubernatorial elections have been declared inconclusive for no other reason than the glaring fact that the PDP won those States, this is disappointing, dishonest and disingenuous.”

The party further noted that “INEC has reduced itself to a mere apron string of the Presidency, thereby losing completely the confidence and respect of all Nigerians.”

“We are disappointed that the acclaimed gains of our electoral system in 2015 has completely been destroyed and elections in our nation is now a mere ritual to please a political party and interest groups who have now conferred on themselves a primordial right to determine what the people desire.

” It is no longer about the fulfillment of the electoral desires of the people as expressed”, Fadaka started .

The party also said,”narrative in Rivers State where the Army descended into the partisan fray so unabashedly is indeed a cause for concern, many citizens are reported to have died from several attacks it pursued.

“The most troubling is the occupation of INEC office in that State by the Army which degenerated into a fracas between it and the Police which is ordinarily the apex Security organisation for the elections.

“This irresponsible action is responsible for the suspension of election activities in Rivers State.”
