The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Persons Living with Disabilities, Dr Samuel Ankeli, has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his task of building a virile nation.

Dr Ankeli, who spoke on behalf of his compatriots (persons living with disabilities) while inaugurating Disabilities Presidential Campaign Committee in Abuja on Wednesday, said the campaign was aimed at mustering support for Buhari in the forthcoming presidential election.

He commended Buhari for considering the plight of persons living with disabilities, saying that in the past they were treated like aliens.

“For the first time in the history of this country we have a voice in government. We are grateful to the leadership of APC that has considered us worthy. I want to let you know that he has decided to have a unique opportunity for us, to give us a voice and a platform so that we can put ourselves together and approach the election and campaign in a unique way,” he noted.

He revealed that they would go down to the grassroots to canvass votes for the reelection of President Muhamadu Buhari, and noted that 25million persons living with disabilities in Nigeria would deliver their votes to Buhari in the next election.

He stressed that the APC government would sign the Disability Bill if reelected.

He said, “We are moving to the next level in life because we saw the last level for the past three years. The Next Level is going to be a national commission for disabilities, a Ministry for Disabilities and more appointments for people with disabilities.”

He congratulated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for working out modalities to give them the ability to vote.
