The Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for exposing the rigging plot of the opposition through his directive to the military and other security agencies that they should deal ruthlessly with ballot box snatchers and other election riggers in tomorrow’s elections.
The president’s support group noted that reactions from the camp of the opposition to Buhari’s order were a clear indication that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate are planning to rig the 2019 polls.
In a statement issued yesterday by its Director of Communication and Strategic Planning, Mallam Gidado Ibrahim, the BCO stated that what the president did with his directive was to uncover a hornet’s nest in the camp of the opposition and stirring it up for Nigerians to know their plan to rig the polls.
Ibrahim said, “We in the BCO give kudos to Mr. President for this marching order. Only the evil minded should be afraid of the order. The opposition are criticising President Buhari for his comment on ballot box snatchers because they want Nigerians to see nothing of those who denied them electricity and other infrastructure in the past 16 years.
“The President said exactly what we have always wanted him to say: thuggery and ballot box snatching have no place in a credible democracy. The President is absolutely right, otherwise we will encourage the opposition and their thugs to dictate democracy for us.
“The PDP and their sympathisers know their plan has been busted by this order from President Buhari. Imagine how awkward their thoughts are. When thugs kill innocent people it is fine and no one talks of rule of law. But when a thug, well armed and snatching a ballot box, is shot, they fabricate rule of law.

“Buhari is a great leader who will never take delight in taking the life of any Nigerian. But he knows that decisive action must be taken if we must stop lawlessness in this country. Nigerian elections have to be peaceful and credible or nothing would change”.
Defending Buhari on the true intent of the directive, the BCO argued that the president never mentioned that he instructed the Army or Police to kill anyone.
Ibrahim stated: “Instead, he (Buhari) stated that this would be the last unlawful act by anyone who snatches ballot boxes and that they would pay with their lives. Paying with your life does not necessarily mean instant killing by security operatives. It could be a life sentence through the court of law and it could also mean death sentence through the court of law.
“No true Nigeria will vote for PDP. The PDP was in power for 16 years and there were no good roads and no power when the PDP presidential candidate was the chairman that privatized NEPA then. We were not sufficient in terms of food as most of our food items were being imported until this government under Buhari encouraged Nigerians to tap from the rich blessed land given by God.
“So, what are the bases of their campaign? The PDP started shouting hunger. What is their contribution to the agriculture sector in 16 years? Even pencil we could not produce, not to talk of rice. During oil boom, they were only good at subsidising goods for fraudulent and selfish ends.
“The offence for snatching a ballot box should be treated as treason, as it jeopardises the smooth change of government. It should be treated as coup. In many cases, a lot of people were being killed and some sustaining permanent injury. It was like military coup under PDP. The bandits did not do that without being armed. Do thugs have respect for human life? If yes, why maim and kill innocent people in the name of snatching ballot boxes for politicians whose children are never part of the polls, but are enjoying themselves abroad?”
