Police Arrests Officer Caught Counting ‘Extorted’ Money

A police officer, who appeared in a viral video for allegedly extorting 40,000 Naira from a man who defied the lockdown order has been arrested.

Popular rapper, Ruggedman had on Saturday shared a video of the police officer identified as Taloju Martins of Ago Police station in Lagos State counting 1,000 Naira notes he allegedly forced a Lagos resident to pay after he was arrested on Friday, 10, April 2020 at Ago Iwoye area of Lagos state.

Ruggedman on his Twitter page called the attention of the Nigeria police to it and demanded justice.

His post reads: “Officer Taloju Martins extorts 40,000 from a man who went to get food yesterday, Friday 10th of April, 2020 at Ago Iwoye.

“He is the SO of Ago Police Station, Lagos and was caught on camera clearly. Please intervene.”

The video caught the attention of the Lagos State Police Command as they took to their Twitter page announcing his arrest.

The tweet reads: “The Police Officer from Ago Division in the trending video has been identified and arrested.

“ He will be subjected to internal disciplinary proceedings known as Orderly room trial. Say no to impunity, be safe.”
