The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the killing of 16 persons in fresh attack on Barde Village in Kajuru Local Council of the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yakubu Sabo, said on Sunday at about 7:30 a.m., some unknown armed men invaded Barde Village under Maro in Kajuru Local Council and started shooting sporadically, which resulted to the death of 16 persons.

He said on receipt of the information, the command mobilised teams of police operatives to the area alongside military personnel to apprehend the perpetrators and bring normalcy to the area.

“The operation is still ongoing and the situation has been brought under control. While investigation is in progress, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdurrahman, has vowed to uncover the masterminds of this dastardly act and bring them to justice.

“He appealed for calm and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those affected by this recent carnage,” he said.
