The Rivers State Police Command said it has recovered the decomposing body of the traditional ruler of Luwa Community in Khana Local Government Area of the state, Chief Robert Loolo, who was kidnapped and left to die in a forest.

Loolo was kidnapped in June 2019 in his palace.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Bori Division, Bako Angbashim, led a team to a creek linking Luwa, Bera and Bakani communities in Ogoni land where the body was found tied to a stick.

Angbashim said, “Two years back, the paramount ruler of Luwa community was kidnapped.

“We have been searching for him and all efforts to trace him proved abortive. But God helped us today, we were able to locate where they tied him in the creek.

“It is a difficult location they took him to. We exhumed his corpse and brought him home. See what they did to a royal father.

“It is wickedness to humanity. They (kidnappers) took him to a tick forest, kept him there without help. From there he (monarch) died.”

One of the deceased children, Dr Douglas Fabeke, said “He was kidnapped in his house by some groups in the community who were fighting over youth leadership.

“When it happened, a peaceful man like that, we begged these youths to release him for us and to an extent, we had to pay ransom twice.

“We reported the matter to the police and other security agencies in the state. They got involved in making sure the man was released.”
