Students of Kwara State Polytechnic, KWARAPOLY have been ordered to vacate their hostels indefinitely and with immediate effect.
We gathered that the immediate closure is as a result of the poor condition of the hostels.
The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin announced the indefinite closure of the school’s hostel facilities and rehabilitation of the facilities because the hostels have been tagged unsafe for habitation.
In a statement signed by the Registrar of the institution, Pastor M. Salami, the school has begun talks with private investors who might be interested in the renovation under a Public Private Partnership arrangement.

The statement read: “The Kwara State Polytechnic Authority wishes to inform returning and prospective students of the institution, parent and guardians and the general public that due to the poor conditions of the hostels.
“There is an urgent need to carry out a renovation on them. The present conditions of the hostels make them unsafe for students to be accommodated in them any longer without complete overhaul of the entire facilities.
“Consequently, the Polytechnic Authority has obtained the approval of the government to put the necessary machinery in place to carry out the renovation work. This will commence as soon as arrangement are concluded with those to do the job through the Public Private Partnership (PPP).
“In the light of the foregoing, all stakeholders and the general public are hereby informed that no Polytechnics Students will be accommodated in the hostels during 2016/2017 academic session,” the statement read.
