It is amusing to watch and see how two top Nigerian acts have gotten divided by politics to the extent of getting Personal and Confrontational with themselves on social media.
Musicians over the years have used music as a weapon of change in proffering solutions to problems in the world and uniting the masses together without any known political, ethnic or religious bias but as time progresses some of us have watched how few musicians started using their fame for business( man must wack). While Artiste like Abami Eda chose the path of conscious music using his musical trajectory to expose the ills lurking within the Nigerian Government and overtime became a mouthpiece for the downtrodden in the society through his music. Other artistes made a choice to use their fame as musicians to support and campaign for their preferred political parties and candidates. Either way to me there is absolutely no big deal so far the political party supporter is ready for the usual fizzle that comes when the chips are down.
While Seun Kuti has followed the path of his father as a conscious Artiste by calling out one of the Presidential Candidate Peter Obi on related Panama Scandal , PSqaure on the other hand who are Obi’s supporters gave it back to Seun by asking him to remove Kuti from his name to know he is nobody.. *orisirisi*
For the records it is important to know that Fela Kuti today has not only become a global phenomenal and an institution whose *Local Shrine* as described by PSquare became an haven and melting point for the world best musicians and professionals.
Seun Kuti and his siblings by all standard have done so well for themselves by keeping their fathers legacy alive. PSquare also through their music have given so much joy to many homes and contributed immensely to Nigerian music.
The PowerShow by both parties is uneccesssary and a complete distraction at this time.
I beg let the music play joor….
Give me Seun Kuti’s song Black Woman or PSqaures Temptation….
