The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria-Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health (PSN-PACFaH), has called for increased allocation, especially in the capital expenditure component of the health sector in the 2017 budget.
This is even as Nigeria is yet to meet the 15 per cent allocation of national budget to health.

This was disclosed in a communique after a one-day workshop on the Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS), Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget process of the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning (FMB&NP) and the role of civil society organizations in collaboration with PSN-PACFaH.
The workshop recommended that not less than 1 per cent of the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) stipulated by the National Health Act 2014 to fund the Basic Health Care Provision Package (BHCPP) should be included in the 2017 federal budget.
It was also recommended that all government plans, policies and strategies should be made open and accessible in line with the Open Government Partnership Policy, adding that there should be in-year, mid-year and end-year budget performance and audit reports which should be made public.
