Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has stated that it is working on upgrading its standard to meet up with federal government’s decision to revive railway operations across the country.
With billions of dollars being invested into the sector as a major focus for the current administration, NRC yesterday, said that the corporation would develop strategic master plan that would guide implementation of current projects.
Managing Director, NRC, Fidet Okhiria, said respective departments under the agency had been mandated to work towards operational proficiency.

Okhiria disclosed in a statement after a senior management retreat in Delta State that the corporation would improve on rolling stock availability, inculcate staff discipline, support and encourage contractors on the completion of all the on-going railway modernization projects.
He stressed on the need for optimal operational and administrative productivity, urging the managers to build more interdepartmental synergy would address rising bottle-necks.
He admitted bottle-necks were hindering prompt response to official matters, resulting in blame game syndrome as against the prompt transparent collective responsibility principles.
Also speaking at the training, which was titled, “NRC moving towards higher standard”, chairman of the Corporation Usman Abubakar, charged the staff to brace up to the challenges that would be associated with the ongoing railway modernization projects across the country such as; operational timeliness, top class customer services and regular information dissemination which are fundamentals in modern transportation business.
