Rain Of Tributes As Actress Regina King Loses Son To Suicide

Veteran Hollywood actress, Regina King, has lost her son, Ian Alexander Jnr, who died by suicide.

The bereaved mother, in a statement to People on Saturday, confirmed that her son died on Friday evening.

King’s son died a few days after his birthday. Ian had just celebrated his 26-year-old birthday on Wednesday.

Speaking about her son’s death, the Oscar award-winning actress said, “Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian.”

“He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”

Ian was the only child of the actress, whom she shared with her ex-husband, Ian Alexander Sr.

Since his death was announced, tributes have poured in from various celebrities who sympathised with the family.

Actress Cynthia Bailey of the Real Housewives of Atlanta said, “Heartbreaking. Sending my sincerest and deepest condolences to Regina King and her family.”

“My love, my prayers, my thoughts, my everything go out to Regina King and her family tonight. My heart breaks. Sending you nothing but light,” said actor Josh Gad on Twitter.
