The lingering crisis in the family of late elder statesman and nationalist, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (rtd) is yet to be over, as controversy rages over who are the legal wives to the former military governor of Lagos State.
Barely a week after the family marked the first anniversary of Kanu’s death, widow of Kanu, Mrs. Gladys Ndubuisi Kanu, yesterday, insisted that she remained the legal and only wife to the former military administrator.
She, however, warned one Miss Josephine Atiomo to stop parading herself as Ndubuisi Kanu’s wife, saying she was never married to her late husband.

In a statement she personally signed, Gladys Ndubuisi Kanu said: “The said woman who has been parading herself recently in the media as wife and widow of Ndubuisi Kanu is an imposter and was never married to the late Rear Admiral Kanu.
“The general public is hereby advised to disregard and not deal with the said woman who is acting in connivance with some family members to destabilise the family and undermine the position of the legal and only wife and widow of Kanu.”
Recall that last week, Kelly Ndubuisi Kanu had announced that a proper commemorative event would be held in October to honour the man who died on January 13, 2021, to which Gladys had responded that Kelly was not the head of the family.
